Furniture & Fittings Skill Council is committed to develop world class skilled manpower for the Furniture and Fittings Sector.
Objectives of FFSC:
Conduct study to understand the skill gaps in each trade and setup sub sector groups for the key trades of Furniture & Fittings Industry , on a ongoing basis
Develop catalogue of Furniture & Fittings industry occupations/skills and related occupational standards
Create awareness and attract learners through Brand Promotion of the Furniture & Fittings Industry
Involve employers, learners, other academic and vocational bodies and private players in skill development intervention
Accreditation/Affiliation of training providers (through partners) and Certification of Learners/ Workforce Facilitate\Conduct Training of Trainers and Training of Assessors for enabling skill centers
Establish/Facilitate in-house Training Centers and Centers of Excellence (CoEs)
Set-up effective Labor Market Information System (LMIS)
Relate the Indian Furniture & Fittings education standards with the international standards for creating widely accepted world class workforce.
Future Plan of FFSC:
Setup sub sector groups for the identified key trades which would own the trade End to End. (Develop Framework – Pilot – Train – Assess – Improve.)
Involve Employers, Employee and private players to impart the required training. Conduct a PILOT study with a center.
During pilots, support development of content for the critical trades
Prepare comprehensive Labour Market Intelligence System with 50 trades in the second year of operation
Develop occupational standards and curriculum for all the trades by 2016 (for estimated 50% of trades covered under LMIS)
Develop Trainers and assessors for enabling skill centers.
Create Awareness and build SSC brand value in the sector.
Create awareness about the profession and potential career opportunities among common people to attract better talent
Conduct study to understand the skill gaps in each trade, on a ongoing basis
Develop DPR at the end of 3rd year and submit to NSDC MoU with a minimum of 25 Industry players for training and employment of learners
Identify a minimum of three accreditation partners for accreditation, standards, assessment, certification
Establish regional centers in key skills and clusters
Introduce Furniture & Fittings courses within school curriculum
